For the first time in years, the legendary, misty trails of Hogsback are once again open for a mountain biking pilgrimage. Red Cherry Events is proud to introduce the reimagined Forest Boogie: a two-day stage race through one of South Africa’s most enchanting landscapes. From ancient, moss-draped forests to breathtaking viewpoints, prepare for an unforgettable weekend of pure riding bliss based at the beautiful Arminel Hotel.
The adventure is set for 13th – 15th March, 2026. Are you ready to ride the legend?
The Forest Boogie will have two classes: Gold and Silver, with the Gold route covering approximately 51 km per day, featuring around 1,100 m of climbing, and the Silver route a more modest 32 km with around 600m of climbing. A separate e-bike class will tackle the Gold route.
The Arminel Lodge will be our host venue, encompassing the Forest Boogie race village, and will provide excellent accommodation and sumptuous meals. Check out the Early Bird Offer for the first 100 riders, which guarantees you two nights at the Arminel with an optional third night at a greatly reduced rate. Once the Arminel Hotel fills up, riders will be placed into other establishments namely, Kings Lodge and May Lodge.
Entry into the Arminel Hotel is based on the order of entry and the overflow will go into nearby hotels, arranged by our Red Cherry Events logistics team.
The Red Cherry Events Team is working tirelessly with the local community and securing the necessary permissions and permits to stage a magnificent event at this truly awesome venue.
The Arminel Hotel – Our Race Village for 2026
Nestled in the natural setting of the famous Hogsback Mountains and surrounded by some of the Eastern Cape’s most beautiful indigenous forests, snow-capped mountains, inspiring waterfalls, and colourful gardens, The Arminel offers comfortable hotel rooms or self-catering forest cottages. A swimming pool, tennis courts, and birding opportunities add to the appeal of this excellent establishment.
What You Can Expect
A Camping Spot
Single or twin depending on your entry. The lux tents have raised beds, comfy mattress, linen, bedside table and light.
2 Days of Riding
Ride through the Amatola Forests as well as experience some newly built sections, built specifically for the Forest Boogie.
Chill Zone & Beer Garden
Relax and refresh after your race in the beer garden located just a stone’s throw from the finish.
Water Points
Be sure to check out the route section to learn where exactly each water point will be, over the 2 days.
Finisher's Plaque
Remember your experience with a high quality finishers plaque for all finishers.
E-Bike Charging
Charging stations available in the Chill Zone, you will have plenty of time to recharge your batteries.
Clean Ablutions
As part of the entry, you will have access to the clean showers and toilets to freshen up in.
Bike Wash
The bike Wash will be operational daily to esure your bike is squeaky clean after each race.
